End of 2006
The last day of 2006. The rivalry game between the Bears-Packers today is now pretty much meaningless since the Giants won last night. There's about 7 things that have to happen in order for the Packers to make the playoffs now. It'd still be nice for Favre to go out with a win though.
The most depressing part about today being the end of the year, is that my vacation is nearly over as well.

So you're saying there's a chance
I knew it was still possible for the 7-8 Green Bay Packers to still make the playoffs. Here's exactly how it can happen:
1. A win plus a N.Y. Giants loss or tie plus a St. Louis loss or tie
OR
2. A win plus a N.Y. Giants loss or tie plus a Carolina win
OR
3. A win plus a N.Y. Giants loss or tie plus an Atlanta win
OR
4. A tie plus a N.Y. Giants loss plus a St. Louis loss plus an Atlanta loss or tie plus a Carolina loss or tie
OR
5. A win plus a N.Y. Giants win. Packers clinch strength of victory tiebreaker over N.Y. Giants if all of the following occur: Arizona, Detroit, Miami, San Fransisco win and Carolina, Houston Tampa Bay lose
Lets just hope the Bears are playing their scrubs since they have no reason to care about this game.

New Family Member...
Today at 11:08 AM, the newest member of pipesnetwork was "born". A Core 2 Duo Machine I just finished building. I was hoping to be posting from it now, but I think I have some bad RAM, so I am still testing to be sure. Its definitely a ton faster than this hunk of junk I'm using right now though, even from the little bit I got to use it. It installed Windows with all updates (including SP2) in about 30 minutes. Thats starting from scratch!
Anyway, I have to look into returning the memory now and getting some new stuff. Hopefully that solves the computer problems...

Cullen Finally Suspended
I wrote about this way back in early September, and the NFL is finally suspending him now and fining him for the incident.
Detroit Lions defensive line coach Joe Cullen, arrested twice in the preseason, has been suspended for Sunday's game against the Chicago Bears and also fined $20,000 for what commissioner Roger Goodell termed "conduct detrimental to the league."... the result of an arrest for nude driving on Aug. 24 and for drunken driving on Sept. 1, both misdemeanor charges. Lions coach Rod Marinelli suspended Cullen for the regular season opener but, after meeting with the first-year assistant on Dec. 1, Goodell decided that further action was required.

This may be useful...
After my recent encounters with neighbors who have no idea how to park, this site may be useful. Guess its time to get out the camera and send in some pictures.

Nobody is really around this week. Its the first time in the 4 Christmas's I've been here that I'm around. So it should be easy to get stuff done, and nice and quiet. 3 more days to go...

For those who haven't seen this site before, I recommend looking at some of their older presidential videos. Pretty funny stuff. They released a new one today that is pretty good too...

Give it Up Already
I'm so sick of hearing about how Michigan deserved to be in the BCS title game instead of Florida. Everyone up here is a whiny little baby who won't let it go. Guess what Michigan? You had your chance, and you blew it. Ohio State practically handed you the game and you still lost. You don't get a second chance. Why should a team who didn't even win their conference be playing in a national title game? If somehow Florida beats Ohio State, then this will get even uglier. Lloyd Carr is being a little bitch and saying how it isn't fair, and they deserve to be in the game. If they would have won, it wouldn't be an issue. BUT YOU LOST! Give it up, and enjoy getting your butt handed to you by USC in the Rose Bowl.

For those who didn't hear...
Michigan will NOT be playing for the National Title in January against Ohio State (They got "stuck" in the Rose Bowl with USC). Since Florida won the SEC this past weekend, they bypassed Michigan in the BCS. That was the best news I heard all weekend. Go Buckeyes and Trojans!

Brain Teaser
"Petals around the rose"
I stumbled on this today while I was "watching" my lecture for class. I thought it was entertaining, it took me a while to figure out.
Click here to check it out for yourself. If you want to try it yourself, here is an interactive version which will tell you if your guesses are right or not.

National Sleep Research Project
OK, so I found something interesting (at least I think it is). A research project on sleep was done recently, and here are 40 facts about sleep as a result. A few of my favorites...
- Anything less than five minutes to fall asleep at night means you're sleep deprived. The ideal is between 10 and 15 minutes, meaning you're still tired enough to sleep deeply, but not so exhausted you feel sleepy by day.- A new baby typically results in 400-750 hours lost sleep for parents in the first year
- Seventeen hours of sustained wakefulness leads to a decrease in performance equivalent to a blood alcohol-level of 0.05%.
- The "natural alarm clock" which enables some people to wake up more or less when they want to is caused by a burst of the stress hormone adrenocorticotropin. Researchers say this reflects an unconscious anticipation of the stress of waking up.
- The extra-hour of sleep received when clocks are put back at the start of daylight in Canada has been found to coincide with a fall in the number of road accidents.

Winter
Its December already, and now its starting to feel like winter. It was 60 yesterday morning on the way into work, and it is just over 30 today. By the end of the day, I reckon we'll have snow on the ground.
I don't know why, I never really have anything interesting to say on here anymore. You'd think with more free time this fall, that I'd be more interesting.
