Funny Headline
I stumbled across this article today with the headline: Operation removes lightbulb from anus.
"...a prison inmate in Pakistan, says he woke up last weekend with a glass lightbulb in his anus."

People and Hard Drive Capacity
Some people are more dumb than I thought. Now its judges too. Hard drive manufacturer Western Digital has been sued by consumers complaining that the hard drives to not hold as much data as the packaging indicates.
When I used to work at Best Buy, people would return hard drives for this very reason, saying it is "missing" some of what is supposed to be there. Let me explain this little conundrum.
Hard drive manufacturers (for whatever reason) interpret 1 MegaByte to be 1,000,000 bytes (it even says this on the package of every hard drive I've ever seen). In computer world however, 1 MegaByte actually = 1,204 KiloBytes which equals 1,024 Bytes. Which means that in reality, 1 MegaByte = 1,024 * 1,024 = 1,048,576 Bytes (2^20). When you factor this into a GigaByte then, it becomes 1,024^3 = 1,073,741,824 actual Bytes in a GigaByte, whereas hard drive manufacturers figure it to be 1,000^3 = 1,000,000,000 Bytes instead.
That being said, the judges are jackasses for letting this lawsuit go through. If they understood anything about computers, it wouldn't have.

Free at last
Officially in about 11 hours, I will be free until after Labor Day. By free, I mean free of school work. I'm not really sure what I'll do with all the free time I'm going to have compared to what I have had, but I know I will enjoy it.

Google Purchases
I stumbed across some links that provide information about Google's Purchasing system today.
By running a simple search in google like "site:www.google.com inurl:purchases"
I got a list of results of files including the help files to go along with Google Purchases, and several links I found off of those which appear below.
https://purchases.google.com/termsOfService?type=Buyer
This one mentions "Google Payment Corp.", which I found to be interesting.
http://www.google.com/support/purchases/bin/topic.py?topic=7347
This specifically says that you can purchase items through your google account.
https://purchases.google.com/
This link is labeled "Purchase History" on one of the pages I found..
http://www.google.com/support/purchases
This is the general help file for Google Purchases
www.google.com/purchases
https://www.google.com/purchases
Both of these redirect to the "Manage your account" page for now. Hmmm...
The thing I don't understand, is it only mentions using Google Purchases for google services, but it talks about rating a buyer/seller (maybe for Google Base?).
I found these other google links which I am curious about as well:
https://www.google.com/accounts/ServiceLogin?service=mail<mpl=googlemail
I think this is either for whatever country can't use "gmail" or just an old link
https://www.google.com/accounts/ServiceLogin?service=sierra
https://www.google.com/accounts/ServiceLogin?continue=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.google.com%2Fpurchases&service=sierra
sierra?
But I'm not sure what this "sierra" service is. Anyone know about this?

New Ring Tone
It's been in the news lately, so most people have probably heard about it. Today was the first time however I found a copy of what the ringtone sounds like to see if I can hear it. I can, and its annoying.
You can find it here: http://americablog.blogspot.com/2006/06/can-you-hear-this.html
(if you want to read the article)
Or just listen to this file if you want to check it out.
This site is interesting too, it has a file of audio ranging from 10,000 Hz to 22,000 Hz, so you can see how high your range goes: http://www.ochenk.com/entry.php?id=63

3 years
It was exactly 3 years ago today I started my first job out of college. It's hard to believe its been that long. It's even more difficult to believe its already been 7 years since I graduated high school. Before I know it, I'll be married too, which is crazy to think about as well. Life just seems to keep moving faster, and things just keep getting busier so it seems there is less time to enjoy life as it whizzes by. Its been almost a year since 2 friends of mine got married, and about 7 months since I've seen one of them.
In just under 3 weeks things will somewhat calm down for a period of time at least, so hopefully I can catch up with everybody then. Until then, I hope I don't miss anything as it all speeds past.

Slacking again
Ok, so its been a while since I've said much of anything on here. School's been killing me lately, and will continue to do so until the end of the month. That being the case, there probably won't be too much on here in the next few weeks (unless I suddenly grow a brain and am able to finish my school work faster).
I hope to at least put up a few engagement pictures soon, just have to sort through them all and pick out a couple good ones. Stay tuned...
