Autistic Basketball Player...
This was on national news and numerous blogs, but if anybody hasn't seen it, I highly recommend watching this...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UBYPaNc57Ik
CBS ran an incredibly powerful story tonight that brings you to your feet and just keeps on giving each and every minute into it. Jason McElwain, an autistic high school basketball team member in Rochester NY, served as the coach's assistant and spirit leader for several years. On the final game of the season the coach let him finally put on a jersey with the rest of the team. Watch what happens then...

More Google Stuff
Google came out with Google Pages now. Apparently it is a system to help users create AJAX based web pages, giving 100 MB of web space for free to those with google accounts (gmail accounts). I haven't tried it out yet, but free web space is usually not a bad thing. Somebody create a page and let me know what you think.

Senseless killing
Its hard to help but wonder what the heck is wrong with people? A news article in the Detroit Free Press has another story about a young boy being murdered in the streets...
For the second time in the last week, a young boy's life was cut short when he was fatally shot on a Detroit street Tuesday -- apparently another unintended victim of an adult feud..."It's broad daylight!" she screamed. "They got more guns than the police."
I realize things like this happen everyday across the world (which is very sad), but what kind of people could do that? I am thankful that I went to college and have a decent job so that I don't have to live in neighborhoods where this sort of thing happens. It makes me feel bad however for those who haven't had the opportunities that I have and can't get out of those places. What can be done though?

Cell phones and driving
This is why you should not be talking on your cell phone unless it is a completely sunny day on a straight road with nobody around:
Jacqueline Dotson and her six-year-old daughter had to be cut out of their vehicle after the accident in which Dotson veered into the median and over-corrected, rolling her truck over the guardrail and landing upside down after flipping several times.Several people stopped to help, and it turns out, the good samaritans may very well have saved Dotson's life. Sheila Vice, a nurse's aide, and an off-duty EMT from another county stopped to help, and put a tourniquet on Dotson's arm to stop the bleeding. Her arm was found near the accident still clutching a cell phone.

My new nephew

Well he's not so new anymore (just over 3 weeks old), but he's new to me. I finally got to see him this past weekend, and spent 4 days with the little guy. By the next time I see him in person, he'll practically be walking!

Proud to be an American
Things like this just make me damn happy to be an American.
A young girl who defended herself and her chastity against three male assailants who intended to kidnap and rape her causing injury to one of them who later died in hospital was condemned to death by hanging in an Islamic court in Iran.
The full story is here.

If you have a truck...
Don't buy "DeeZee" step bars. I made that mistake 3 months ago and there were rusting after 2 months. How do they rust when they're stainless steel? Well it turns out they don't use stainless steel fasteners on their stainless steel parts. So after 2 months, the fasteners started rusting and running onto the step bars. How lovely.
I would have to say however, that Ziebart was VERY good about getting everything taken care of at no cost to me and making sure it wouldn't happen again. They replaced my step bars with nicer (and more expensive) Nasta step bars that have all stainless steel parts. Much nicer.
So don't buy DeeZee, but do use Ziebart. I know at least one Ziebart store that will no longer be carrying DeeZee parts, hopefully they all stop.

Super Bowl Commercials
Watch the Super Bowl last night? I know I did. I was slightly disappointed because the game was pretty sloppy, but still at least a close game.
There were only a few funny commcercials in my opinion. If you missed them or want to check them out, Google has posted them all for viewing (free) on Google Video right here.
The Bud & Bud Light commercials are the funniest to me

Supporting Firefox
Well my web page now officially supports firefox. Actually it has for a few days now, I just never mentioned it. Apparently my style sheet was not properly formed, but IE still liked it (big surprise).
if you don't know what firefox is, you should, so check it out here.
To steal a quote from their page:
Firefox keeps you more secure when you’re browsing the Web, closing the door on spyware, worms, and viruses. The Firefox community of developers and security experts works around the clock to monitor security issues and release updates to better protect you.
Its been around for a while, but up until the 1.5 release I haven't really been using it because it didn't have some of the features I wanted, that I was used to with Maxthon.
