Merry Christmas
MERRY CHRISTMAS!
I hope everyone has a safe and happy Christmas. I wish I could see a lot of people that I haven't seen in a while, but to those who I haven't seen, know that I'm thinking about you. Enjoy the time with your friends and families, and take care.

Pac-Man
Apparently pac-man made a visit to University of Michigan during finals week:

Thats a pretty cool site by the way, similar to Google Video, in that users just upload videos for anybody to search and find (and watch).

Santa
Apparently Santa drives a buick now. Despite article to the contrary, I saw Santa driving South on I-69 yesterday in a silver Buick. He's coming, and he know's if you've been bad or good so be good for goodness sake.

Expired
Apparently Macaroni & Cheese does expire. Last night we thought it would sound good to have that, but noticed before we made it up that the expiration date was January 26 2004! I figured that mac & cheese has a shelf life similar to spam of like 10,000 years or something, so said "it'll be fine". After making 2 boxes of it (i was hungry, ok?), and getting ready to put it on my plate, something was smelling funny. I tried a little bit of it, and who knew that Mac & Cheese does indeed go bad? Guess they put that expiration date on there for a reason after all!

Last day
Today is finally my last day of class. That would also make tomorrow the first official day of vacation, even though I've been off since Friday. The end is in sight, just have to get through one more final and a small paper to write...

GMail Users Listen Up
Several new features have been announced in the last few days, but to me, the most important was GMail Mobile. Now you can access your GMail account from your cell!
They also added a vacation responder for emails in case you want to let people know you'll be gone, and contact groups so you don't have to type in a million email addresses everytime you send to specific people. They also added attachment previews and Web Clips as well.
Now release google calendar!

Take a walk
Feeling like you are gaining winter weight? (I know I am) Do what the penguins do in Japan and take a walk...
It's wintertime and the king penguins at a zoo in northern Japan are putting on weight. But the keepers there have a solution: exercise. Officials at Asahiyama Zoo on Thursday started taking the penguins on 500-yard walks on the snowy grounds twice a day...

bugmenot
I hate it when you try to go to news sites, or others and they require a "free registration" to download files or view news articles. Well there is a solution other than submitting to their registration.
This site has had every site I've tried to type in there, and for lots of them they have multiple logins in case one doesn't work. It may not be the quickest way, but if you have it bookmarked, it beats registering and getting more junk mail.

NetVibes
I stumbled across a web portal yesterday that is almost exactly what I've been looking for. The site is www.netvibes.com, and its pretty frickin' cool.
For starters, it will show you your weather, preview your email (if you use gmail like you should) and any news clipping you want via RSS, XML or ATOM feeds. Not only that, it marks the feeds you've Read as "read" so you know you've looked at it. No more reading duplicate stories. Best of all, you can check this from anywhere, provided you have an internet connection. So if you like to check the news at work on your lunch, and want to continue at home, you can pick up where you left off on the news articles. You can even import AND export your feeds via OPML! So if you already have them setup in your newsreader, export to OPML and import it into netvibes. You're ready to go.
Another really cool feature is the bookmarks. You can import all of your bookmarks from your browser and have them all on this page. This is something I've been wanting, because now I can access any of my bookmarks from anywhere.
The site is pretty quick too (especially when compared to google personal home page). You can move around all of your news sites and content thanks to the AJAX interface, and even show/hide the stories so only the site name and the number of unread article is visible. This is especially useful if you have alot of sites you check.
While this site is missing a couple things (such as a stock ticker), what is there is very solid, and much better than any of the other similar offerings I've tried. Check it out!

Wakin' with Bacon
This is what I need:
When Sallin first woke up to his Wake n' Bacon alarm clock -- constructed from a gutted Wal-Mart alarm clock, a PIC microcontroller, and two 100-watt halogen lamps -- everything came back to him again. "My first thought was 'Mom's in the kitchen,'

Packers Win!!
Something happend last night that has only happened 3 times so far this NFL season.....The Packers won! Granted, it was against Detroit who sucks too, but hey, a win is a win. At least I know they'll have one more win this season (when they play Chicago on Christmas)!

Christmas Lights
I got an email the other day with a video of someone's Christmas light display they put together. I thought it was crazy, but wasn't really sure if it was real. Turns out it was real, but it is no longer up.
So many people ended up visiting the Williams’ sub-division, that two folks got in a minor accident (next time try parking while you watch, k?), and sheriff’s deputies asked him to put an end to the revelry indefinitely.

Actually, it looks like he ended it himself however:
The 40-year-old father of two pulled the plug after learning of a fender-bender about 8 p.m. Tuesday in the midst of the bumper-to-bumper traffic trying to get to his Deerfield Township home.

Google Rumors
There have been rumors circulating for some time now about when Google Calendar is going to be released. Several said it was going to be yesterday. The domain "www.gcalendar.com" looks similar to what they did before other product releases, yet no sign of a calendar coming.
The funny thing is, you know once it is released that everyone will begin criticizing it, after waiting in anticipation for so long. For all I know they aren't even planning a calendar. I'm excited to see though. I like Google toys.

Google Calendar Where Are You?
There's been a lot of speculation about Google Calendar being released today. As of yet, it has not happened. I'll be sure to update this if and when it does. This would be the missing piece for me to go with gMail.....cross your fingers that it comes out soon. (Actually it is not even known for sure that it is coming out ever, but its a good possibility)

"Tomorrow May Never Come"
Sometimes this time of year with things getting hectic around the Holiday's, trying to finish things up at work before vacation, and finishing up projects/finals in class, its easy to forget whats important.
I stumbled across this, which is a good reminder...
Don’t let pressure and overwork encourage you to hurry past parts of your life. Whether it’s your children’s early life, whole segments of your marriage, or maybe the last active years of loved parents, they are swiftly past and gone beyond recall. Regret comes too late to save them...Maybe next year, when things calm down a little. When they’re not so busy. When they have the time.We are so confused about time...we can neither create more, nor save any for later, nor do away with what there is. Sometimes it seems to drag in endless amounts. Sometimes it appears to flash past...
The truth is simple. People confuse what is urgent with what is important; what is pressing today with what is pressing in terms of their whole life...
Its all right here.

All I can say is "Wow"
OK, this is just too weird to not share with people...
Dr. Gérado Lozada was told by Lina's father that she had been having regular periods since age three, but they had stopped about 7 1/2 months prior to the visit. He listened to the young girl's abdomen with a stethoscope, and heart a tiny second heartbeat. An X-Ray was also performed, after which there could be no doubt… to the doctors' astonishment, five-year-old Lina Medina was about seven months pregnant.

Self-Repairing Paint?
Wow, this is interesting...
Nissan Motor said Friday it had created a paint that repairs scratches on its own, restoring a car's surface to normal within a week....
