I just found out that I'm going to be an Uncle!!!!!! Congratulations to my sister and brother-in-law!

Gone

Well its official. I fired my realtor today. I also decided that I'm gonna put looking at houses on hold for a little while. The next few months are going to be very busy with bachelor parties and weddings and what not, so it would be hard to find time to even move, let alone spend much time looking. No big hurry I guess, in the mean time I'll just keep throwing away my money into my apartment.

How much is too much?

I've come to a conclusion. Housing sucks in Michigan unless you are making a lot more than I do, or don't mind living in a not so nice area. I'm torn between spending more money than I am really comfortable with, but getting the house I want and spending a more comfortable amount but not having what I want. Its like you can either have a crappy house in a nice neighborhood, or a nice house in a crappy neighborhood. Can't seem to find both (not in my price range anyway). The last house I saw yesterday was almost perfect, but I just don't think I can allow myself to spend that kind of money. Maybe I'm just too cheap. Or maybe I'd like to be able to afford to eat still. Either way, this sucks.

House Hunt Day #12

More houses today. I'm up to 54 different ones now. However, the 54th one was VERY tempting. It finally has 2 full baths, which seems rare up here. Its actually pretty new too, compared to everything else anyway. Makes me wonder why nobody else has snatched it up yet. Who knows though, if nobody does, maybe its the one. I gotta find one soon, i'm going nuts.

Mark Your Calendar for the year 2029. Thats when an asteroid passes between the Earth and the Moon, and scientists will be able to determine if the chances are greater than the 1 in 14,000 currently predicted odds of it hitting earth in 2036. A real life Armaggeddon? Probably not, although it is being suggested they track it closer in order to better determine the chances of it hitting us. Personally, I'd give it a few years, thats a long time away.

Wimp

Well I wimped out yesterday. I had plans set to fire my realtor, but she sent me some houses that looked interesting, so I decided to give her one more last chance. This is it though, if I don't find my house on Thursday, she is gone. I have another realtor lined up from a recommendation, so he must be good. Maybe some day I'll grow some balls and get rid of her. Hopefully I find my house Thursday though so I don't have to worry about it. We'll see...

House Hunt Day #11

Another day of looking at houses, and another day of disappointment. Numbers 42-47 were disappointing for the most part today. Several really nice neighborhoods, but the houses had stupid floor plans. Why is it so strange for master bedrooms to have a bathroom up here? Is that really too much to ask for?

What's this mean?

I'm beginning to wonder. Maybe I'm not supposed to live or at least buy a house in Michigan. For the 3rd time, A house sold the day I did or was going to submit an offer. 1 or 2 might be a coincidence, but I think 3 may mean something...

Big Day

Its a big day today. I'm putting an offer in on a house tonight after work. I feel much better about this than the condo I put an offer on a couple weeks ago. This suits me much better I think, even though I liked the condo location better. Its nerve-racking and exciting to think about at the same time. BIG decision.

Slacking

I've been slacking lately. Between being busy at work, starting classes again, house hunting, and being lazy in my free-time (which is limited), I have not done any work on this site and have hardly posted here over the last few weeks. Well hopefully that will be changing soon. At least the house hunt may be over anyway. That will at least give me some time, until I actually move in. Then I'll have less time than now for a little while. I'm not complaining though, I always like to be busy. I still have enough free time to sit around a little bit, so thats good enough for now.

I'm planning on driving by the house one more time after class tonight to check out the neighborhood and things a little more. Unless I see something I really don't like, I'm going to be making an offer on it tomorrow. Pretty exciting, and kinda scary at the same time (I hate spending money).

House Hunt Day #10

Well after looking through 41 different houses now, the search MAY be over. I looked at one for the second time tonight that has a lot of potential. Its not awesome right now, but its something that with a little work could be really nice I think. There's nothing major that needs to be done, but there's a handful of little things that could be done to make it REALLY nice. Decisions, Decisions...

Well I went and looked at houses again today. Numbers 34-38. Only 2 were worth looking at, and only one of those worth mentioning. Of course it happens to be the most expensive one I looked at too. Go figure.

House Hunt Day #8

Well I looked at houses again today. Back to houses and not condos. I was actually pleasantly surprised by a couple of the houses I looked at.........nice and big and not TOO expensive. My total is up to 33 houses now that I've been through. I'm hoping to find something soon, I'm getting sick of looking. 2 today were pretty nice though, so I haven't ruled those out yet....

On another note, its nice to be relaxing this weekend. For the first time since January, I am sitting around with nothing I HAVE to do. ALthough I would rather probably be in Indy or Chicago right now, it is nice to get to relax. If only the pool was open.

Nope

Well that place wasn't meant to be apparently, since my offer was rejected for the other person's (which was above listing price for some reason?). I'm not too upset about it though, I know I'll find something eventually. Just getting sick of looking...

scary

Its a scary thing. I submitted an offer for a house tonight. Its scary to think about spending that much money. As anyone who knows me knows, I am cheap. i can admit it. Thats why the idea of spending x amount of money on a house is very scary/depressing. Cross your fingers, I'll find out soon if they accept my offer.....

To make it more interesting, it turns out someone else submitted an offer tonight as well, so the seller simply said they would take the higher of the two. No chance for a counter-offer or anything. Considering the other person placed an offer earlier that was rejected, they definitely have the advantage. We'll see what happens.

Today I looked at a place for the 3rd time, and one new place. It looks like we may have a winner. Tomorrow I am placing an offer on one, so we'll see what happens...
