Scary Drivers

"If you put a 20-year-old driver behind the wheel with a cell phone, their reaction times are the same as a 70-year-old driver who is not using a cell phone," said University of Utah psychology professor David Strayer. "It's like instantly aging a large number of drivers."

I found that article online today. I've always noticed how people (myself included) slow way down when talking on the cell phone. Even today on my way home from work I counted at least 5 people who were driving really slow in the fast lane because they were talking on their cell phone. Hands free sets don't matter, even the article says that. Its a matter of being able to concentrate on two things at a time. The funny thing is, it seems like its more guys I see doing it (at least tonight) than girls.

Its one thing to talk on the phone while driving if there's no traffic. But in Detroit rush hour, with so many stupid Michigan drivers, I never talk on the phone, its hard enough sometimes without talking to anyone.

In the words of piano man Bruce:
"Mr. F*'n important thinks they have to be talking on their cell phone..."
