Join the craze
I have officially joined the Ipod craze now. I got my new Ipod photo in the mail tonight. Sadly I haven't had a lot of time to do much with it other than load all my songs and photos (which took a while). Hopefully tomorrow I will get a chance to do some more with it. Seems cool for now though...

Good Start To the Weekend
Well my day got off to a great start today. I got up a little early so I could get into work at 6:30 instead of 7:00 and then hopefully leave by 3:00. I needed to stop by the post office on the way to work because I had a letter to mail, so I took a slightly different way. Little did I know that once I got that way there was an accident that backed up traffic for about 3 miles on the freeway. If I hadn't gone the different way, I would have missed it. Instead of getting to work at 6:30 like I planned, I got in there at 7:00 (which is actually a few minutes later than normal) after leaving 20 minutes earlier. Not only that, but once I got to the building I realized I forgot my Security badge so I couldn't even get into the building. I had to wait a few minutes for someone to come along and convince them I belonged here. What a great start, hopefully the weekend isn't like this...

Anybody know a good site to download music anymore? I was using WinMx and now it seems like I can't get anything from it.

I can beat that. I'm going to write on the blog about it later, but, it all began with my motherboard apparently frying. :-( Have a good weekend; I'm going to take a nap.

iPod
Well I finally broke down. I became one of "them". "Them" being one of the millions of people with an iPod. Apple announced a new 30 GB photo version today, and consequently dropped the price on their 40GB (which comes with the dock, A/V cable, and firewirecable that the 30GB no longer has). Anyone who knows me knows I'm a sucker for a good deal, so I went for it and ordered it. Now its just a matter of waiting...

Enough Winter?
Is winter over yet? Apparently not since I got about 6 inches of snow here on Sunday, and it was snowing off and on all day today. I'm ready for the warm weather. The days are getting longer, so thats a good sign. It was actually still light at 6 this evening, and it was even cloudy. Only a month I guess until the official first day of spring. Time to start counting down...

I bet you can't wait until you come to Evansville where it is so warm. Today we had about 1/4" of snow and it was only the second time it has snowed all winter. So that means we have got 22-1/4" of snow. One real bad one and then this! Ha.
One week from today I'll be in New Jersey and two weeks from today I'll be in LA. I guess I had better get the shorts out of the closet....sorry.

Old Man
24 seems old. Two dozen years. Almost 2 and a half decades. I was out at the mall yesterday and saw someone that had letter jacket with "07" on it. That makes me feel even older. Growing up is over-rated. The older you get, the more bills you have, the faster time goes, and the less time you have to enjoy it.
That being said, I need to do something. I like my new job, and am glad I am in school working on my masters (even though school is over-rated too, ha), but it still feels like something is missing. I feel like I should be doing more, but I don't know what.
Maybe sometime I'll figure that out. Right now that something is studying for my midterm...

Ford Fusion
Ford is finally starting to come out with some cool new cars. The 2005 Mustang is awesome. The new Super Duty and F-150 are amazing. The new Five-Hundred and Freestyle are nice, just not very edgy in their styling.
Anyone who knows me knows that I am not a car person. I have to admit though, I'm pretty excited about the 2006 Ford Fusion coming out this fall. Its not tiny like the focus, or an old man car like the Crown Victoria. Its a lot more stylish than most, and very practical since its supposed to get around 30 miles per gallon. To go on top of all this, its cheap (which I definitely like). Its worth taking a look at.

Yea I've been slacking lately and haven't posted much or done any work on this site. Nobody seems to check it too often anymore, so I guess I need to work on getting something interesting here if I want anybody to look at it...

Happy Valentine's Day
February 14th again already? Seems hard to believe. Just another day for me, no different than any other, although my mom did send me heart shaped sugar cookies, so that makes it kind of special. She's done it every year since I've moved out, but yet I'm still surprised every year when they come. Hope everyone has someone special to spend the day with, but if not remember its only a hallmark holiday, not the end of the world.

I didn't have anyone special to spend it with...but I was not unhappy about it. I do, however, have a wedding to go to this weekend, and no date. Ack!! I...need...a...date. Know any guys from MI that want to take a road trip this weekend? Wedding is @ 7 p.m. on Sat. :-)

Happy Day
Today is a happy day. I have started my new job as a software engineer in embedded systems in-vehicle software. I am already happier than I ever was in my previous one. I even have my cube and computer already!
Now I need to actually do some work here...

Windows Update
Just a friendly reminder to MAKE SURE YOU RUN WINDOWS UPDATE TOMORROW AFTERNOON!
Microsoft is releasing 13 patches that affect products from Visual Studio to Microsoft Office to basically all versions of Windows. Several of these are rated critical, so I recommend patching as soon as you get the chance. Don't forget to run office update after windows update.

Bummed
So I found out for sure today that I am stuck. Tomorrow was supposed to be my last day in this rotation. Monday I was supposed to start my new job which I am very excited about. Turns out that there is no computer in my cube at my new job. I was told there was, so the short of it is my move has been delayed until they can procure a PC to put there. If I would have known when I scheduled the move that there was no PC it wouldn't have been a problem. Instead someone failed to mention to me that it was taken away last week. As a result, I am stuck here, with nothing to do, for at least another few days until I can get a PC in my new location...

Scary Drivers
"If you put a 20-year-old driver behind the wheel with a cell phone, their reaction times are the same as a 70-year-old driver who is not using a cell phone," said University of Utah psychology professor David Strayer. "It's like instantly aging a large number of drivers."
I found that article online today. I've always noticed how people (myself included) slow way down when talking on the cell phone. Even today on my way home from work I counted at least 5 people who were driving really slow in the fast lane because they were talking on their cell phone. Hands free sets don't matter, even the article says that. Its a matter of being able to concentrate on two things at a time. The funny thing is, it seems like its more guys I see doing it (at least tonight) than girls.
Its one thing to talk on the phone while driving if there's no traffic. But in Detroit rush hour, with so many stupid Michigan drivers, I never talk on the phone, its hard enough sometimes without talking to anyone.
In the words of piano man Bruce:
"Mr. F*'n important thinks they have to be talking on their cell phone..."

Better off
I heard something on the radio this morning that was disturbingly accurate. The guy was talking about how far "we've" (we being the human race) come over the years and how we're much better off than we used to be. Things are all about convenience now, microwaves, fast food, drive through pharmacies, etc. Even with all these "convenience" factors, everybody still seems to always be in a hurry and not have enough time to do what they need to do. How is it that people who spend 5 minutes going through the drive through for dinner seem to have less time than those who used to have to hunt, kill, clean and cook their food? People never used to stray more than 10 miles from where they were born, many of us (myself included) commute that much or more each way to work everyday. With all the advancements in medecine and hospitals, their seems to be more diseases and sick people than ever. I wonder how many people ever died from horse crashes (as compared to car crashes)? Deep thoughts...
