New Years
Already the second to last day of the year. Seems hard to believe. Its definitely true that time speeds up as you grow older. And as time speeds up it seems there is more to do so it really makes everything go by fast.
Anyway, my point is just that since time doesn't slow down that you should do what you want to do and enjoy the little bit of time you do have. Make the best of it, because it just keeps going by faster.

Its Good to Be Home
Sometimes its just nice to be home. I've been gone for 12 days and am glad to be home now, even if it is for only a couple days. After spending time in Fort Wayne, St. Louis and Indianapolis, its nice to be back in my own bed. Hopefully tonight or tomorrow I will be making some changes to this page. I've been saying that for months, but it might happen this time ;-)

Record Day
Today was a record day for me. This isn't something I talk about a log, and I've never been one to brag, but this is something I've worked towards for a long time so it was nice to accomplish a long-time goal. Anybody that knows me knows I like to work out. I'm not one of those guys that likes to talk about how much they can lift but I'm pretty proud of this. Anyway, today I went to workout and wanted to maxout on bench. I did 405 lbs which is 4 plates on each side. For those that workout, they know thats a landmark weight to get to, just like 315 and 225. Not a big deal to most people or anything, but like I said, just something not many people can say they ever did and something I've worked towards for a long time. Next is double my body weight now....

Vacation
You've gotta love vacation. Getting paid to do nothing. Thats what its all about. It makes me not feel so guilty if I go spend money, because I'm in a sense getting paid to spend money, so it balances out. That being said, after today I have 16 days of no work and no school. Maybe I can finally catch up on my pile of unwatched movies that has been accumulating.
Just gotta get through the next 8 hours or so...

Productive
Today was much better. I went to the cashiers office and there was no line, not to mention i had no problems finding a parking spot (due to the fact that today there was no class). I even had time to run my other errand.
I can't believe my vacation is almost here already. 2 more days of work to get through and then 16 days without work or school. Its going to be nice :-)

Waste
I love wasting my lunch break. Thats what just happened. I thought I was going to go out and get a couple errands done. Instead, I spent 15 minutes trying to find a parking space at U of M so I could pay my tuition, only to not find one and finally tear off my parking pass and park in the admissions parking. Then when I got inside the cashiers office was conveniently closed from 11 am to 1 pm today, and it was 11:30. How lovely. Now since it took so longn to do that I had to go back to work rather than taking care of something else I wanted to do. So instead of getting to things done, I got nothing but pissed off.

Why do people in the cashier's office need a two hour break anyway....lazy university ivory tower crap!!
don't get me started about being pissed off. Give me a call and let me tell you about my remote start ordeal tonight! It will make your lunch problem seem like it was a walk in the park.

Exam Monday
Like many people today, I have an exam. Like many other people, I had problems motivating myself to study all weekend. I guess I'm lucky in that I only have one to study for and its not a final. Its a little nerve-racking though because I have to do well on it. Cross your fingers...
Good luck on your exams, happy studying.

update...
I found a home for Mico for the holidays. I was worried for a bit there. I would love to take him with, but I think he's better off at the kennel.

While kennels are ok, Mico may be happier staying at home. Do you have a friend or coworker staying in the area that could pop in and see him twice a day? If not, "google" the word pet-sitters, and see what you come up with for your area. If you go with a pet-sitter, make sure they're bonded and/or insured.
(I did pet-sitting in college...much better for the pet because they stay in their own environment.)
Fat Cat
I took Mico to the vet today. I knew he was getting big, but he's more than double the size he was. The day I brought him home (4 months ago tomorrow), he was 5 pounds. Today he was 11 pounds 5 ounces. Big boy.
I screwed myself over too. I knew I was going to need to board him over Christmas, but I've waited until now to try and find a place, and every place I go is full. Looks like I may have a buddy traveling with me now. I don't think he'd like riding around that much though. So now I don't know what I'm going to do...

I live for Friday
There's nothing quite like a Friday afternoon at the office. Knowing that in a few short hours I'm free for the weekend is a great feeling, even if I will be spending it studying for my exam on Monday. Its like the country song by Steve Azar goes "I don't have to be me 'til Monday".
Now the real trick is going to be getting myself to study when I have all these little computer nerd things (website, programs, etc) I'm working on and a pile of unwatched movies...

Count Down
Yesterday was my last day of class for the semester. I have my exam on Monday and then I'm done until January 11. Not bad. Even better however is a week from tomorrow is my last day of work for the YEAR! No school, and no work for 2 weeks. Sounds good to me :-)

New Pictures
I started working on a new picture gallery part of my site using CopperMine yesterday. Check it out at www.pipesnetwork.com/gallery. Its still a work in progress, I haven't really done any customization of it yet, just uploaded some pictures and messed around a bit. If you have pictures you want to put up, create an account and let me know and I'll give you an album to upload them to.
Dut you have an album now, put up some pics!

Making a Difference
Maybe its because I haven't slept well the last two nights. Or maybe I haven't slept well the last two nights because of it. Regardless, lately I've felt like I'm not doing anything. Not that I'm literally sitting around doing nothing, but that I'm not making a difference. I get up, go to work, go to class and work out. Thats pretty much my day Mon-Fri. I guess I'm in the wrong profession if I really want to make a difference. Sure, I can write software that maybe someone would actually use, if I was creative enough to come up with something useful. But since I don't write software at work yet, even that isn't going to happen. Maybe I should have gone into the military so I'm not such a weenie, or been a teacher like my scout master said he thought I'd be.
Its not that I want to become famous or be a hero. I guess its just that I want to know that I've made a difference by being here. Granted, I'm only 23 so as far as I know I have plenty of time, but still. I don't want to be just another useless waste of space. Oh well, one of these days things will change I'm sure.

Dreary
What a dark and dreary day outside. Makes me glad I'm inside, although I'd rather be watching movies with Mico than working.
Does anybody have any web page ideas? I'm planning on actually doing some more work on it starting next week hopefully. I'm trying to figure out what I want to do though. Creativity isn't my strong suit, just the nerdy coding part.
Comments
I think you need to add in a tag board. I don't know who wrote the software, but it's a little add - in for the sidebar that allows "chatting" on the site. Maybe some links to other blogs that you read (hint, hint) too.
I do need to put together a page of friends' pictures. The pic of me obviously won't happen though, ha.
I was showing a guy at work your site a few weeks ago and he said you need more pictures up. More of people, so that he knows who I am always talking about.
Why don't you put a picture of you flexing on the homepage...that would be AWESOME!haha

Almost Done
I woke up this morning and it was freezing in my apartment. I checked the heater and it was blowing out cold air. Lovely. So this morning while I was working on my project I was sitting at my computer with a stocking cap on to stay warm. Luckily the maintenance guy came early this afternoon so it got fixed and is now working again.
Its kind of nice, this is the first weekend around here in a couple weeks. Too bad I'm stuck working on a programming project the whole time. Not that I mind too much, its something I enjoy I guess so that helps.
I can't believe that a week from Monday I'm done with my first semester already! Thats crazy, its gone fast.
Comments
Well at least your heater was a technical malfunction and not a jackass malfunction. The other day I went to turn mine on becuase I was cold, then about 20 minutes later I realized I wasn't getting warmer and I actually felt colder. I freakin flipped the switch the wrong way and had my AC on. I felt like such a jack ass...but now I can laugh about it.

shotgun
Everyone hates to have to sit in the back seat of a car, and everyone knows "Shotgun" hoggers, who always have to sit in the front. Well now there is an "official" guide to calling shotgun.
And just so you know, EVERYONE who is riding in the car must be outside before one can yell "Shotgun".
It's actually a pretty funny read, check it out here.

Short December
I was pleasantly surprised to get home yesterday and see that my tree had not only not been knocked over, but not even messed up. Guess he finally figured out not to climb in it.
I can't believe its December already. It seems like last week I was saying that about November. Its snowing already too, which means drivers are even worse than normal here right now (and believe me, its possible).
13 business days and counting until no work and no school for 2 weeks.
