Windows Vista
I finally installed Windows Vista a couple days ago. Despite all of the negative press it has received, I am pretty happy with it so far. I've found a few programs that don't play well with it (iTunes seems to keep crashing, and a few other utilities that I used on XP), but for the most part, all of the applications I normally use work just as well on Vista.
There really aren't a lot of reasons to upgrade, and if you don't have a beefy computer, you'll be sorry you did. On the surface, it's mostly graphics upgrades (the Aero interface). These can be turned off to speed your computer back up, but I'm keeping them for now. My favorite new feature is how integrated the search feature is. Every window has search built in, as does the start menu. This makes it a ton easier to find files and things.
The biggest change to me is where all of the files for a specific user account are located. Since all of the locations have changed, I've had to update several scripts and programs that I use to synchronize and backup files to use the new locations ("Documents and Settings" folder is no more).
This may very well be the last Microsoft OS that I don't have to pay full price for, so let's hope it hangs around for at least a little while (although it's not really supposed to).

New Years
Here we are again, another year come and gone. That also means its nearly the end of the holiday vacation. I'm actually looking forward to getting back into my routine, and being able to remember what day it is.
Happy New Year to everyone, and here's to a great 2008!

Motor City Bowl
What a game! I was fortunate enough to be able to go to the Motor City Bowl yesterday (from which I just now got home at 4:30 am). It was WAY closer than it should have been, but it was a high-scoring, exciting game. In case you missed it, Purdue won 51-48 on a last second field goal in regulation.

Almost Here
How the heck is Christmas only a week away already? It seems like it was just Thanksgiving, which seemed like it came too fast too. All of the sudden it has been 10 weeks since I started working down here and 4 months since I've been done with school. Time is flying.

Indiana
I guess it's official now. I am an Indiana resident with an Indiana license plate. No more signs of Michigan left (that I know of). It really is good to be back home.
License plates are double here what they are in Michigan however, but insurance is so much cheaper that it way more than makes up for it. If only Purdue plates were not $40 more...

Cheap
I'm cheap. Everybody who knows me knows it. I re-use sandwich bags for cripes sake. Sometimes it sucks being cheap though. I sold my big TV to a buddy a while back before I moved. Now I want a new one, and I can't get myself to buy it. I was looking at one tonight that was a great deal, but I'm too cheap to pull the trigger.
Granted, I did just buy a house, but still. There's 2 things a man needs in his house. A recliner, and a big TV. I want my big TV.

Missing in Action
Ok, so I haven't exactly been paying any attention to my usual things lately. It's been very time consuming getting into this new house (not that I'm at all complaining). I had to get rid of the purple paint in the master bedroom, and get rid of all the boxes. Now that that is all done, it's on to the finding homes for everything.
Somewhere in there too, is all of my computer nerd stuff i normally do. I still haven't figured out the permissions with this dang thing, so every time I post I have to manually chmod all of the files so that they are visible. I'm hoping what I just changed fixes it, but I will be surprised. Once I get this taken care of, it will be must easier to post.
Until then, here's trying...
