Summer?

What the heck happened to the summer? It's already the last day of July, and it seems like summer just started. I guess that's what happens when you're too busy to get to enjoy it.

The one good thing about it being August (almost anyway), is that football season is just around the corner.

It also means that the next time we start a new month, I'll be graduated!

Cocky People

Anybody who knows me knows that I am not a cocky person. I generally keep my mouth shut and try to let my actions speak for themselves. Today at softball (which is supposed to be my one relaxing activity for the weekend), the shortstop was a complete butt-hole. He was talking trash the entire game, and just being an idiot. For no reason, he made comments to people, including myself. I hit a hard grounder up the middle for a double, and he said to me "yeah, it's easy to hit up the middle when it's a girl pitching who you know will move out of the way". Are you kidding me? I don't care who is pitching, I don't swing any different for anyone. I won't go into the details of what he did that almost caused a fight with another player (not myself), but he would have deserved anything he would have gotten. And then later in the game he did the same thing that he got pissed off about when our player did it by accident.

I guess the moral of the story is that everyone has to deal with jerks sometimes. Its hard to keep cool and not say anything. Sometimes things need to be said, but people like him generally get what they deserve in the long run, so it's better not to bring yourself down to his level. It's hard to do, but be the bigger person (and carry a big stick).

This is what's wrong with Ford...

The second-quarter earnings add new context to Ford's talks with the UAW, said Gary Walkowicz, 57, a Ford repairman at Dearborn Truck.

"I think they won't be able to cry poor for negotiations the way they've been doing for the last number of months," Walkowicz said. "It shows me that we shouldn't even think about giving up any concessions."

Ford has a "surprise" and makes money for the 2nd quarter this year, and the UAW people already think they are entitled to some of that profit and shouldn't have to make concessions. If you read the details of the earnings, North America still lost money. Also, Ford is still not expected to make a full year profit until 2009. One quarter of small profits doesn't mean it's time for the UAW to get raises. Did they take pay cuts when Ford lost money? I don't think so.

Bummed

Today at 1pm Eastern time Bears tickets went on sale. I thought it would be cool to get tickets to the December 23rd game in Chicago against Green Bay. So I was already at the stroke of one on ticketmaster, and got in line pretty quick for tickets, but was bummed to find out I didn't get any. So now I missed potentially my last chance to see Favre play. I'm bummed.

Spam

Ok, so recently some joker things its funny to send Spam from my domain. The problem is, other than creating an SPF record, there's nothing I can do. Any server with an open relay will send mail from any other domain. All I can do is apologize to the people receiving it and assure you that it is not me sending it.

I've had days with over a thousand items in my Spam box because of the bounce-backs from the spam being sent to bad emails or the destination rejecting the email. Lately it hasn't been so bad, but it's been worse the last day or two.

Anyway, I'm sorry if you get spam from me, but I promise it's not really from me.

6 Weeks

6 weeks and counting. Only 42 days until I am done with grad school (assuming I finish my project and it gets approved, etc). It's pretty hard to believe it's been almost 3 years, and now I'm 6 weeks away. The way time flies by, that will be here quick. I just hope I can get everything done...

back to work

It's already back to work today. It was nice to actually do some things over vacation however. Going to Niagara Falls was a good time. As anyone who knows me would guess, I took lots of pictures. I recommend going if you've never been there. It had been 21 years since I'd been there, so I didn't remember too much. It's definitely worth the drive and the hassle of crossing the border.

Vacation

It's nice to be on vacation. It will be even nicer in about 8 weeks when I am done with school and on vacation, but just school is better than school and work for now. I guess it will be like a vacation anyway when I'm done with school since I'll only have work.
