House Hunt Day #2

Well I went out looking at houses for the second time tonight. They were definitely in a much nicer area, pretty close to where I live now. As a result however, the prices were substantially higher, and pushing my limit. Even more unfortunate, is I really REALLY like one of the houses I saw, and it is one of the more expensive ones. WIth a full finished basement, a big Florida Room and a wet bar in the basement though, its hard not to like it. Who knows, maybe I found my future home?

I see the light!

I was only gone for 4 days I think. Suddenly today when I was walking out the door to leave for work for the first time since Thursday, it was light outside. I swear it was pitch dark on Thursday, and now I saw the sun on the way to work. I thought my clocks were all off somehow, but I'm not complaining. It helps wake up in the morning when you see a sunny blue sky, even if it is on the way to work.

I like the sun too!...but...mind you it's only going to last for a week. We "spring ahead" our clocks next week. Sunday, to be exact.

Everything in Iowa is uh peachy. We should talk sometime soon!

Isn't that the best? I had to drive to Cincinnati this morning for some training stuff and it was sunny the whole way. On Sunday Sara and I went to Indy for Easter and it rained the whole way there and the whole way back. I was trying to listen to the KY-Michigan State game on the way home and everytime it would lightning, my station would cut out for about 3-4 seconds. That game was awesome!!
So, to sum all that up for you....I really like it when it is sunny out in the mornings!
Later,
Dut

Vacation

Its nice to have a long weekend. I haven't had a vacation day since January, so I'm looking forward to the next 4 days off. If it wasn't for a school project I would even be able to relax the whole time. Looking at my calendar, it is rather sad however. After these 2 holidays, I only have 3 more until November. Thats a long time, but I guess thats what vacation days are for. Thanks be for paid vacation!

Happy early Easter!

Snow?

We are now on the 4th day of Spring and it has been snowing since about 10:00 this morning. The average temperature for this time of year is 50 degrees. Looking back through March, the average on March 1st is 40. I bet I can count on one hand the number of days for this month that we have hit the average high temperature. No wonder I'm so annoyed at this weather. What a crock.

House Hunt Day #1

Well today was the first day out with my realtor looking at houses. We went in and looked at 5 different ones in 3 different towns, 0 of which jumped out at me. There was one that I really liked on the inside, but don't like the area at all. Thats the biggest problem I had today, was the area. They were either right by a highway or by people who don't take good care of their house. Guess I need to look further west and closer to where I live now. Either that or just go straight for the ghetto. Cheap housing there.

Holy Cow

What the crap is going on? Today I put the most expensive tank of gas I've ever purchased in my truck. $49 for not quite 22 gallons of gas. That is ridiculous. Its not like crude oil is really in short supply, OPEC just needs to quit being so greedy and bump up their production again. Otherwise I'm gonna have to downsize from my big truck to a compact car just to afford gas.

I like to complain about gas prices. I think there is more reason to complain now then the last several times I have, where gas was only $2.49. It wasn't that long ago I was complaining about gas being as low as $2.25, and now I wish it was only $49 to... [Read More]

Friday

It feels good to be Friday. For the first time in a while, work is a little slower today. Or maybe its just that I don't feel like doing much. Either way, in an hour or so I get to leave for the weekend. I missed out on green beer festivities last night since I had to work late and had class, so I have some catching up to do tonight, maybe I can even find some left over thats green.

12 Hours

Spring may be near after all. Today is the first day this year with 12 hours of sunlight (in Michigan anyway). Too bad its not sunny to show it, its been cloudy and overcast all day. Not that it matters when you're inside anyway. Turns out I don't even get to work out tonight, or very quickly if I do. I have a meeting from 4:30 to 6:00 and then class at 6:10. Talk about a long day when you're in before 7:00 am.

Spring???

Today is March 16th. Its normally supposed to be a high of 45. Its 15 outside. Thats just a little colder. Where the crap is spring, its been cold long enough? I guess I should be happy its not like last March 16th, where we got a couple inches of snow. We better be done with that junk.

Depressing & Exciting

Well its official. I started my home search today. I had my first face-to-face meeting with my real estate agent. Its very exciting, but also kind of nerve wracking at the same time. The idea of having MY own place is very cool, but the amount of money out the door is not. I'm cheap, I can admit it. Spending X amount on a house is whats so depressing. It'll be worth it though, just gotta think of it as an investment. Its not like an apartment where I'm throwing money away like right now.

Anyway, the search is on...

Busy

Things have been really busy lately, which is why I've been slacking on my blogging. But I won't complain one bit. Its nice to be busy, especially after not being busy for a while and having it drive me nuts. As long as I have time for my occasional movie and Mico, I'm good to go.

On a different note, what the crap is this weather doing now? It was 45 yesterday morning, and all weekend. I thought spring is finally almost here. Now its 13 outside right now. Back to winter for a while...

Being On Time

How hard is it to be some place on time? Or to be in the right place for that matter? People being late is one of my huge pet peeves, and unfortunately something I've come to realize is commonplace here in corporate America. The amount of money that could be saved if everyone was on time would be ridiculous. Actually I'd be curious to know if a study has been done on something like that.

Spring Break

With as busy as things have seemed lately, its nice to know I have one less thing this week. Its spring break for me. It seems like the semester just started, but I guess it is March 1st already. No class for me tonight, so maybe I'll actually have time to play with my new Ipod :-)

Now though I have to try and fight the snow on the way to work, and wish that my iTrip was here to help me get through the ride with my new Ipod...

Hey - had a weird thing with the iPod this weekend. It freaked me out! I thought the thing was KIA. Anyway, it froze, completely. If it does this to you, the solution is to reset it (which doesn't erase your data). This is NOT in the nonexistent user's manual. I had to call HP for tech support. If yours ever does this, lay it on a flat surface, plug the charger into it, toggle the hold switch on and then off, and press the "menu" and center clicker button together at the same time for five seconds, or until you see the Apple logo appear. Release the buttons, and you should be good to go. Just thought I'd tell you that so that you were an informed iPod user!
Good luck on the programming project!
