Side Note
On another note, how is it I work for one of the biggest companies in the world, with over 150 billion in revenues, yet my office building has the oldest copy machine in north america. The stupid thing is the size of texas!
Life
Have you ever noticed that its just when things are going about perfect for you and you're getting comfortable that something seems to come along and screw that up? I can think of countless times this has happened to me.
I used to sit around and get bent out of shape about it wondering "why me?". The more I think about it though, after things get straightened out again, everything seems a little better than it was before. Its going through crap like that that makes us who we are. As much as it sucks at the time, I think we're always better off from having to go through those kinds of things. Everything happens for a reason. Its just a matter of figuring out how to benefit from the things that you don't understand why they happen.
Anyway, thats my deep thought for the year. Talking with a good friend last night who seems to be going through this made me think of it.
If you visit my blog this weekend, you will hopefully see some changes happening because I will most likely be working on it (now if I could only get my laptop back so I could work on it while watching football on the big screen). Don't be afraid, change is good. :-)

Fall. DeMotivators
Fall is here. Yesterday is the first day that it actually felt like fall up here. It was cool, windy and mostly cloudy. The leaves are suddenly down and starting to change. It was nice enough I could actually keep my windows open without heating up my apartment. It made me want to go have a bonfire somewhere or go to a football game or do something "fall".
I found a whole site of those deMotivator pictures like I showed you yesterday, so here are a BUNCH more. Some of them are dumb, but there's a few that are hilarious (like Retirement and Discovery).
Comments
hahaha.......
Hey that sound's like fun. Let's have a bonfire. Those are always so fun. Just sitting around staring into the fire. I love that....seriously I do.
Let's go burn something.
I think "Persistance" is the most funnyest one of them all. Not so much the phrase that defines the word, but the definition that explains the picture.

Funny
I found some funny pictures the other day that I thought I'd share. Click here to see them. They're supposed to be a rip-off of the motivation posters you see tons of people (like you DUT) having. I have nothing against those, just thought these were funny.
Mico got kicked out of my room for the second day in a row this morning. He wakes up too early and then wants to play so keeps walking on my head. Then I throw him off and he thinks it’s a game so I have to throw him out of my room and close the door. I feel bad doing it, but a guy's gotta sleep!
People in Michigan still can't drive, I had 2 people try to merge into my lane when I was RIGHT BESIDE THEM this morning. The first lady didn't even know she did it even after I honked and flashed my brights at her. Oh well, since there's no accident its all good I guess.
Comments
Those are great. I will have to print some of those off tomorrow at work (in color ink too...shh, don't tell...that color is expensive ya know) and hang them all around my desk.
Later
pics - hilarious, esp the last one. Do those things really motivate anyone? i always wondered. you know they have a whole store in tippy mall dedicated to them, or maybe it went out of business . . . bet they'd still be open if they were selling these!
I bet you can't wait for winter to come so all the drivers turn into even BIGGER idiots ;)

"Just Another Manic Monday"
What a weekend. Beautiful weather, would have been awesome for an outdoor wedding. Considering I only knew about 3 people there I had a good time. I got to see a buddy of mine from college I haven't seen since graduation so that was cool. Berne, Indiana isn't exactly an exciting town, but Dani and I still had a good time.
Not much to say today. Mico is still doing great. He learned that when I pick up my bag in the morning to leave for work that I'm leaving so he runs to the door like he's gonna go with me and then runs out if I don't stop him. He's funny though, he always comes running to me as soon as I get home, just like a little dog. Nice to know he likes to see me, ha. He actually plays fetch with his little catnip toy too (or he did, he hid it and I can't find it again). Now if I could just get him to sleep through a full night every night...
Have a good afternoon!

Oh happy day
Its Friday. Enough said. :-)
Have a safe and happy weekend.

I had no idea that you had this going. It's pretty cool man, you are my idol.
Well I know it's been a while since I left a comment, so....
I hope that you are having a great weekend, I guess I will just have to wait until monday to see another entry. Of course on the days that I actually have time to check this thing are your days off! Come on, this is like the only form of entertainment that I have!
I am so pissed.....go here and try to beat this asshole. http://www.transience.com.au/pearl.html

busier
Well things are looking better at work now. I've been busy all day so far (I think its a new record). Things are finally picking up on this project that I am leading so that gives me more to do.
Once again the weekend is almost here. I'm looking forward to going to a wedding with Danielle and hopefully getting to catch up on some sleep after not sleeping much of the last 2 nights.
On a different note, if you're ever tired and feel like you need some energy, try "Monster Energy" drinks. Those things keep me awake all day at work if I have one in the morning when I'm sleepy. They have a lot of vitamins and amino acids in them, but I'm not sure how good they really are for you. You can even get carb friendly ones. They taste good too.
Anyway, back to work...

IP Phones
To answer your question dut....
Yes I have used them, we had them at the Truck plant and at my previous job. I don't have them now though. They're really nice. The ones we have are like the ones you see in a lot of movies if you look close.
They look like the top three here.
They work just like a normal phone, and they have multiple lines, forwarding, waiting, ID, directory and all that crap built into them. Good speaker phone too, and lots of ringers to pick from. They have their own IP address like any network device would.
As far as writing a virus for them, they are on their own controls network where computers don't have direct access. This is because to operate telephones over an IP network its is generally necessary to run QOS and not have data traffic going over the same pipes.
Sleep
Well last night was interesting. I got to bed at a decent time thinking I was going to get some sleep. I played with Mico enough to tire him out so he might make it through the night. And then I lay in bed for almost 3 hours before I finally fall asleep for good. Mico made it through the night though. At least one of us did, ha. Sleep is over-rated anyway.
So I met with my supervisor this morning and talked about getting some work to do. He said he's got a few things I can get involved with and thats about it. At least I was busy for most of the morning though. I haven't gotten any of these "things I can get involved with" yet, but I guess with time they'll come.
I have class again tonight. Its only been 2 weeks and already I remember why I was so anxious to graduate nearly a year and a half ago. At least I'll only be taking 1 or 2 classes at a time though, so it shouldn't be bad. The professor keeps saying "if you don't understand this you will flunk the class". What a great way to encourage those who are struggling. I guess its supposed to be a hard class too (great), so we'll see how it goes...
I got an email I thought was interesting today. Being the computer nerd that I am I get lots of Tech. news and stuff emailed to me daily. Today I got one that talked about Ford IT, I thought that was kind of interesting. Just kind of though.
Comments
That's pretty cool about the phones at Ford. Have you ever used one of those before? Have you ever seen one? Do they look just like regular phones or do you dial using your computer?
Ya' know.....with these phones brings the solution to your lack of having anything to do:
You should write a virus that prank calls somebody in your old department every 10 minutes or so, but don't forget to punch in *71 (or what ever number blocks the old *69).
Or better yet, start working on this virus now so that the day they start it in MI, you can release it and call like every person that is hooked up to it.
That would be good for a few office chuckles. Maybe they would give you a promotion then.
One time at band camp......

More than a little annoyed
In Michigan they must teach people to be morons in drivers education. That's the only explanation I can come up with, because holy cow. They are about the dumbest drivers I have ever seen in my life (and anyone that has visited me here can vouch for that). Every once in a while (like today on my way to work) you run into what must be "National Moron Driver Day" and they all come out to piss you off at once. How stupid are these people, I mean really? They were driving half of the speed limit in all 4 lanes of the dang freeway! Then you get the people who leave 10 miles between them and the car in front of them, and the person on either side of you going the same speed as you. I think they just pick somebody to piss off and today I was the "lucky" one. People up here slow down to like 30 on the freeway if they see a cop pulled over too. What the crap is that? A stupid cop on the opposite side of the road will cause a traffic jam. A 3 lane highway merging into two causes a backup for miles during rush hour. Its been like that for months people, follow the signs and merge! Don't even get me started on sun stalls (when the sun is setting or rising and you're driving towards it traffic comes to a stop on the freeway).
And what the crap is up with all the construction STILL. It's been almost 6 months and I STILL can't take the normal way to or from work so my drive is at least an extra 10 minutes each way. That doesn't sound like much, but if you figure 20 minutes a day for 6 months? That’s about 43 hours I've wasted because of their slow-ass construction workers and their need to try and fix every road in Michigan at the same time with 3 workers trying to do it all by working 5 minutes every other day. That’s a good idea.
Ok. I'm a little calmer now. I forgot to mention much about my weekend yesterday. Danielle cooked for me for the first (but hopefully not the last) time on Friday, so that was very nice and good, especially after the long drive (even if the crescent rolls were slightly black on the bottom) ;-). Saturday we visited her Grandma in Indy and her grandma cooked dinner too. I was loving this home-cooking :-) It was really nice out, so we walked around downtown Indianapolis with her Grandma's dog. You know they have a bakery down there just for doggies? I've never spent much time in Indy before, but If I was going to move somewhere in Indiana, I would love to live there I think. Its just such a nice town, I like the downtown area especially. Lots of places to just walk around and check out. Good restaurants, little art galleries and stuff. Just seems like it would be a fun place.
The last week or so has been just awesome weather. I wish I would have been able to enjoy more of it. Maybe I'll get a leash for Mico and start taking him on walks…

Back
After getting back home from a fun, relaxing weekend, I have decided my cat is officially crazy. He would not let me get more than about 6 inches from him until I left for work this morning (at which point he followed me out the door, only to get thrown back in). He decided he likes to dance on my head while I try to sleep apparently too, because thats what he was doing most of the night. I guess thats why kittens are so fun though, they are crazy.
At work nothing has changed yet. Still doing almost nothing. I have a training thing again this afternoon, so that will at least give me something to do. Its getting ridiculous though. I just want to be busy and involved, is that too much to ask?

WOW!!! Adam, what planet did Dut come from?? (Dut, I thought you were gonna be online...LIAR!!)
:)
Go tell you boss how it is! Say "listen 'gina I need some work to do, so that I can show you that I am the shizzzit."
Then maybe he'll give you something to keep you busy for 10 minutes or so.
Gook luck...let us know how is goes.
PS...good thing your cat got this manhood taken away otherwise instead of dancing in the night it would be humping in the night....

I Love it
I love how I just wasted 2 hours today and several hours yesterday trying to get things together and organized for this meeting today. I love even more that because "the big guy" decided something was critical nobody was able to show up and it now really is wasted time.
To make things worse, I shouldn't even be the one running this meeting. Its something I was "fortunate" enough to be given when another person left the department. It has nothing to do with what I do and nothing to do with me. I don't even have any background information on 99% of what the meeting is about. But for some reason I'm the one in charge of it?
The good thing about it is that it gives me exposure to the management in my group, so when ran well that makes me look good. Hopefully its worth it.
On the bright side, its Friday. Who wants to sit in an hour long meeting anyway? :-)
Have a great weekend, I'll be back on Monday as usual.
September 16, 2004
What to write...
I have nothing to say today. I just finished sitting through almost the most boring 7 hours of my life. I have to give a presentation at work tomorrow and still haven't gotten a hold of a guy I need to get some information from for it. Other then that not much going on.
I've been thinking of some ideas to re-do this site (finally) and will hopefully be able to start working on them sometime soon. So if things look weird or are screwed up that is why.
Its almost Friday, another weekend is upon us :-)

Better
After getting some much needed sleep last night, today is seemingly going much better. Mico got kicked out of the room this morning though, after waking me up at 2 am and not settling back down. He was feisty before work today too, got stuck between my desk and the wall.
I'm still feeling pretty relaxed from that massage (yes it was full-body) yesterday, man that was nice. Work is even busier today too. I just wanted to take a quick break and do this now since I won't be home till late today since I have class.
I finished my first project for class the other day which is due this afternoon. Piece of cake. C Programming is very easy to pick up (so far anyway, I hear String manipulation is bad).
Dut, hope your day goes better, that sucks about work right now. I'm willing to bet that they'll see how well you handle it and do it all and it will get rewarded. Just keep on workin. It won't go un-noticed.
Have a great hump-day!
Comments
how in the world between the desk and the wall???? You always give the best advice, dut i'd have to agree, if you stop working so hard they will definitely notice, if you keep working hard they will eventually notice, but they probably notice more than you think they do.
i want a full body massage now, those horses are hard on me!!
September 14, 2004
Massage
Well its about time. Today for some reason I got the urge to go get a massage so thats exactly what I did. I made an appointment for after work and got an hour long full-body massage. That was nice. Now the only problem is gonna be I'm gonna want to get them more now and they're not cheap, about a dollar a minute. Very relaxing though, i'm gonna sleep like a baby tonight, and I need it....
Comments
Daaaaaaaang, that's almost as expensive as goat riding ;). Was it a full body massage?? and did you still feel strange afterward?
Dang you are living the life. An hour long massage and nothing to do at work except look busy. I am so jealous. Right now work is kicking my ass. It just never feels as though we are fully staffed. Today three people were gone for training and one person had to go home sick and then eventually even go to the hospital (hope she is ok). So of course it was the Dustin show at work....as soon as i would hang up the phone the receptionist would direct ring another one to me..... I WANTED TO SCREAM... AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH.
I know that sounds bad since somebody had to go to the hospital and there isn't really anything we can go about that, but this is so typical there. I never have time to do MY work....I am always doing stuff for others, little favors and crap..."can you help me out with this" "can you cover this for me" ....what if i just started saying no to people I usually can't say no to????
Ok, that feels a little better. Sorry, had to vent.
The reason you haven't had anybody post is because you didn't write all weekend and we forgot to check it. Now i have to go to bed.
Later Dude.
Strange
Yes, I'm at work right now. Yes I should probably be doing something (if I had something to do).
Do you ever just feel kind of strange? Ever since I got home last night I just have felt a little off, not physically but mentally. Not that I'm more retarded than normal or anything, but something just doesn't feel right and I can't figure out what. Maybe it just hit me that I'm tired and haven't gotten much sleep in a while. Guess if I still feel funny tonight I'll have to try and go to bed early and see. Not that it ever works when I try to get to bed early, its just hard to before 10:30, and lately more like 11:30. Anyway, its gonna be a long boring day so back to looking busy...
Losing Interest...
Just a quick note before I go to work. The few people who read this must be losing interest in this thing, no comments for the past couple days. Guess I need to spice things up a bit...
By the way, there's new pictures of my cat here.
September 13, 2004
Late Post
Well sorry Grandma, today is a late post since I had class and everything after work and just got home a little bit ago.
Nothing too exciting today. Actually I can't think of anything to say right now, I'm boring. Got some things to do, so maybe once they're done I'll have something to say...
September 12, 2004
I love having company
Well it was nice to have visitors this weekend. Thanks for coming to see me :-) Mico likes the company too, he gets more attention that way.
It was a good weekend though, went to Greektown for the first time, so that was interesting. We went to the casino there, but I didn't gamble, wasn't feeling lucky.
The only bad thing about having company is when they leave. It just seems so quiet again then. At least I still have Mico around though. I've got some homework to keep me busy too, oh joy.
Tomorrow its back to the grind...
September 10, 2004
Early Enough?
Hey grandma, this early enough for ya? ;-)
Actually been busy at work compared to normal, but wanted to get this in now before I forget since I have lots of company coming up this weekend. It looks to be beautiful weather, so hopefully we can spend some of it outdoors.
Mico apparently want
